After the first quilt, I know what to expect and what to do with my second quilt. It is for my gal to use in the car too. Her favorite color is pink so I try to match the fabrics.
I decided to try out the log cabin quilt from a book which I bought earlier and I prefer log cabin because it is easier to sew.
When I laid the blocks on the floor, my gal even helped me to mix and match them. It is hers anyway.
I didn’t put in the batting as it can be quite heavy. But if it is for the bedroom, I would use a batting.
Instead of same color and design for the sashing and borders, I decided to use my solid color jelly rolls which I bought from the internet. I like the pastel colors!
My gal chose the flannel backing herself when we were at a craft shop. She insisted on the floral flannel.
Since it was a public holiday yesterday, I spent the almost the whole day sewing this quilt for her.
My binding got better, and I realize that having sashing between the blocks are easier to sew.
Tada!!!!

She loves it!
I love it too! I am so satisfied with this one, probably because I am a ‘girl’ too so I love these colors!

So I have bought my truly first sewing machine. I used to loan from my mom but it could be quite a hassle because she has to bring her portable sewing machine to my house. And when she needs it, she will bring back home.
And here is my first sewing project.

I have always like quilts and my first quilt was from China which mom bought it for me more than 10 years ago. Now, my son is the owner of it and it is quite old and a bit torn here and there.
I wanted to buy many quilts whenever I went shopping, but it was just too expensive for me. I didn’t think it was worth it.
I started on a baby quilt, wanting to sew one for my son to use in our car whenever we travel long distance or he feels cold.
I can find any beautiful fabrics I like. I ordered some from the internet. Our local textile shops have limited designs. And I only use 100% cotton for quilting.
My first try was difficult. There were many trials and errors and a seam reaper is a must! It is so important! Definitely learned a lot from my first quilt.
I used a different fabric and cut into blocks. I had less fabrics and I didn’t want to put any floral or baby designs for my son. Afterall, he is already 8 yo this year. I doubt he would like it in two years time.
I used a car design for the backing as it reminds me my son’s first word. “Car car” was what came out from him. He just loves cars!

See how comfortable he is!

If you ask me to look for a job, I would be hiding under bed. Why? That’s because I haven’t been working for many years and who would want to hire me? Unless, I apply for a general clerk or receptionist position with my degree. Anyway, if you are looking for a charlotte jobs, you might want to check out a job search website. It has many job opportunities and with the demand out there, I am sure you will be able to find a job that you like. I guess I won’t be updating my resume any soon, perhaps I can start my own small business.

Alright, so more birthday gifts to get for the next coming months. My mom in law’s birthday is around the corner, and I don’t know what to get her. She does not wear many jewelry so that won’t be in the list. My mom wears more jewelry but I won’t get her any too as she might not like what I buy for her. But then I will most probably inherit my mother jewelry as I am her only daughter. There is a website which can give me many ideas on what to buy. I am totally clueless now. Many birthday gifts to get!

After the arrival of our friends, we all went to Chaweng town again. Then we decided to visit The Grandfather and Grandmother’s Rocks in Lamai which took us at least 30mins of travel time. Our butts were kind of sore though.

AFter seeing this rock formation, we then travel back to Chaweng to hunt for local food. It wasn’t that good though. As it was already night time and we all felt sticky and tired, we gals, being lazy again, decided to go for a hair wash while the guys went to grab some beer to cool them down.
When we were all clean and ready, we went to have some drinks with our own Whisky and playing cards. I couldn’t last that long and went to hit the sack not long after the game started.
I have the luxury of waking up late. All of us do. Hubby went for a jog at the beach while I was still dreaming. Our usual wake up time is from 10-10:30am. A shower and some sun lotion, we rode our scooters and went to hunt for brunch.
Another local food and then we decided to have some chicken rice.

As the only chicken rice shop we know of is Lamai, we rode there again (another 30min). It wasn’t good and since we were there, we decided to visit Magic Garden which is about 15-20min further. Rode up and down the hill and looking at the map which was fun!

It wasn’t something special but at least we have seen it.

After we got sun burned in KSM, we went in search for a nice spa outlet to get some relaxing massages and spa. But then we ended up in a massage parlour which provides after sun massage which my friends and hubby needed badly. But it was a just a normal massage parlour and it doesn’t have spa service. My friend was looking for spa that comes with spa cover and such. All she got was facial, body massage, manicure and pedicure. All of us came out from the massage parlour with unsatisfied service. The massages were just lousy!

I have been able to control my appetite and lost some weight since end of last year.Even I ate a lot during my Italy trip and gained 2kg, I was able to lose the extra weight after I got back. A few weeks before our trip to Koh Samui, I had thought of dieting because I tend to eat a lot every time I travel. But I was able to control myself and ate full meals all the time. Sometimes, supper too. Maybe I should consume appetite suppressant so that I won’t gain the unnecessary weight.

Mom just did a colon scope test recently. Everything is alright, and there are no polyps. A few days earlier, she had to follow a colon cleanse diet. So I baked some bread for her and gave her some Milo too. After the test, she was alright and was able to eat anything. She even ate durian after resting at home. All is well!

Although I would love to get a Mac, but I am satisfied with my current laptop. It is fast and I use it to surf the net all the time. My old laptop is for our kids to use, once a week, during the weekends. Now my mom is interested in getting a laptop or desktop so that she can learn how to use the internet. I am thinking of getting her one laptop but then I wonder if refurbished computers are suitable or not. It may be slower but it could be just enough for her to use.

Although our maid prepares and cleans up after cooking, but I am the one who cooks. She helps me prepare the food that needs to be cooked. Of course she does the cutting, slicing and chopping most of the time, but still I prefer a sharper knife. Our kitchen utility knives have been with us for more than 8 years and I think it is about time to replace some of them. The knife we use most of the time, is always blunt. It is also heavy too. I guess I will be in the search for a lighter and better knife.
